Virginia W. (Thoren) Peters

Virginia Wauneta (Thoren) Jones-Peters, 102 of Blairsville, the daughter of the late Carl L. and Ann C. (Fredrich) Thoren, died on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at Independence Health System Latrobe Hospital. She was born July 27, 1923, in Wauneta, NE, where her fondest memories were experienced. She proudly recalled how she often played sports with the boys and was a fast runner, winning most of their races. She loved to dance but turned down one offer, whose persistence not only earned a dance but also her heart. They were married while Boyce Jones was in the Army Air Corps during WWII. While stationed in England they adopted their only child, Edward Jones. Back in the USA, they traveled through the states working in sales. After their divorce, for several years, she managed a variety of apartment complexes and condos in FL. She loved most of all her son Eddie, and enjoyed living near the beach. Latter on she moved to PA to be near Ed. Throughout her life she enjoyed sports especially watching football, but played tennis and bowling as well, and socialized with many friends throughout her life. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved stepfather, Ross Seratore, sisters Charlotte Stein, and Bernice Dedert, as well as several nieces, nephew, uncles and aunts. Virginia is survived by her one son Edward E. Jones and (Celeste) of Blairsville; Randy J. (Shanna) of Blairsville, Lisa and Sean (Murphy) Pittsburgh, Scott J. (Kim) of St. Petersburg, FL; and grandchildren and great grandchildren ,and nieces Roberta (CA), Brooke (Canada), Bryne (OH), and Janet (CO).
