Theodore P. Keir

Theodore “Ted” Perkins Keir, of Bradenville, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2026, at the age of 90. He leaves behind a legacy of service, craftsmanship, adventure, and deep devotion to his family. Born on July 20, 1935, Ted grew up on a farm, where he learned the values of hard work, responsibility, and perseverance that guided him throughout his life. Ted proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1954 to 1958 before earning his degree from Penn State University. He enjoyed a distinguished career as a computer programmer with Bell Labs and AT&T during the early years of the computer industry, where his precision, dependability, and attention to detail earned the respect of his colleagues. Despite working at the forefront of technology, Ted preferred a simpler life. He never felt the need to embrace every new gadget, choosing instead to value meaningful conversations, time outdoors, and the company of family and friends. Ted shared a lifelong love with his wife, Nancy Jean (Moore) Keir, who preceded him in death two years ago. Together they built a family centered on love, integrity, and shared experiences. He is survived by his son, Douglas James Keir and wife Elizabeth; his daughter, Nanette Louise Keir and husband Kurt; and his cherished grandchildren, Drake and Holly; his brother, Nile Keir; and his sister, Lois Stewart. A talented woodworker, skilled handyman, and lifelong train enthusiast, Ted took pride in building and repairing things with care and precision. Family and friends knew they could always count on him for help and advice, often accompanied by his favorite reminder: “Measure twice, cut once.” Ted also believed in serving others. He volunteered as a Boy Scout leader in New Jersey, earned membership in the Order of the Arrow, served with his local First Aid Squad, and was a faithful member of the United Methodist Church. He never sought recognition, believing that helping others was simply the right thing to do. Travel and the outdoors brought Ted great joy. Family vacations exploring the western United States and its national parks became treasured traditions. During his lifetime, he visited all 50 states, including a memorable trip to the Arctic Circle in Alaska, inspiring in his family a lasting appreciation for travel and nature. Ted will be remembered as dependable, hardworking, and quietly generous—a man who believed in honesty, preparation, perseverance, and taking pride in a job well done. His legacy lives on in the family he loved, the things he built with his hands, the lives he touched through quiet acts of service, and the memories made around campfires, scenic highways, and beautiful landscapes. In accordance with Ted’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service at this time. The family plans to celebrate his life at a future date, when family and friends can gather to honor the remarkable man they knew and loved.
