Rachel I. (Betts) Loughner

Rachel I. (Betts) Loughner, 89, of Derry, died Tuesday, June 27, 2017, at Greensburg Care Center. She was born January 25, 1928, in Derry, a daughter of the late Russell D. and Bessie Viola (Riddell) Betts. Prior to retirement, Rachel worked at Latrobe Steel as a telephone operator. She was a member of the Alpha Lion’s Den Ministries Church in Derry and the Order of the Eastern Star. Besides her parents, Rachel was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph S. Loughner Jr. in 1996, one son Terry Loughner, two brothers Forrest and Russell Betts, and two infant brothers. Rachel is survived by one son Scott R. Loughner Sr. and wife Cathy of Derry; 7 grandchildren Tina Mauck, Scott R. Loughner Jr. and wife Kimberly, Timothy Dick, Jason Dick and wife Jessica, Stacey Joslin, and husband Stewart, Kelly Ann Loughner, and Christopher Loughner and wife Kelly; 7 great grandchildren Joey, Summer, Colton, Christian, Daniel, Sophia, and Cooper and also numerous nieces, nephews and friends. The family will receive friends for Rachel’s Life Celebration, on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 6-8 PM and Thursday, June 29, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Matthew X. Merlin Funeral Home Inc. 529 N. Chestnut St. Derry, PA 724-694-8331. A funeral service will be held 11:00AM Friday June 30, 2017 in the funeral home with Pastor Ronald Kosor officiating. Interment will be in Coles Cemetery, Derry.
