Joseph P. Palmer, 75, of Brownsville formerly of Derry Twp., died October 25, 2017 in Uniontown Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born June 22, 1942 in Derry Twp., the son of the late Richard and Mary Ellen (Hunter) Palmer. Prior to retirement Joe was a Psychiatric Aide at Torrance State Hospital and a manager at the Blue Ridge restaurant. He enjoyed donating to Boys Town and ASPCA. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his son John Palmer; 1 brother Ronald Palmer, and 2 sisters Janet Palmer and Nancy Wissinger. Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 34 years Debbie L. (Phillippi) Palmer of Brownsville; 6 children Eileen Palmer of Bolivar, Cheryl Palmer of Greensburg, Ronald Palmer and wife Marcia of Blairsville, Dennis Palmer of Eire, Timothy Palmer of Latrobe, and Larry Gary Jr. and wife Jessica of Derry; one brother Richard Palmer of Blairsville; two sisters Betty Laney and husband Elgin of Derry and Jeannie Coish and husband Harry of Derry; his faithful companion Benjamin, and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. Joe’s wishes were that the funeral services will be private. The family has entrusted the funeral arrangements with the Matthew X. Merlin Funeral Home Inc. 529 N. Chestnut St. Derry, PA 724-694-8331.
