Obituary
James F. George Jr., 79, of Derry, died Monday, November 14, 2022 in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital.
He was born in Latrobe, August 23, 1943 the son of the late James F. Sr. and Ella Mae (Ferry) George.
Prior to retirement Jim worked at Latrobe Steel. He was a US Army Veteran. Jim was a member of the Derry Rod and Gun Club and a life member of the Twin Maples Hunt Club. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Jim is survived by his wife Janis A. ( McGinnis) George of Derry; one son Kevin J. George and wife Kerrie of Perry, GA; one sister Janet Cole of Derry; granddaughter Amanda Johnson and husband Ron of Perry, GA two step daughters Stacy Schmucker and husband Tim of Latrobe and Amy Stash of Loyalhanna; one step son Scott Reott and Fiancée Tara Campbell of Derry and numerous other grandchildren, nieces , nephews, and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
The family has entrusted the funeral arrangement with the Matthew X Merlin Funeral Home, Inc. 529 N. Chestnut St. Derry, 724-694-8331.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Action for Animals Humane Society, Route 217, Latrobe, PA 15650.
