James L. Ciocco, 86, of New Derry, died Saturday, May 27, 2017, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born July 23, 1930, in Unity Twp., a son of the late Joseph and Carmella (Trongo) Ciocco.
Prior to retirement James worked for Kennametal as a machinist for 43 years. He was a US Army and US Navy Veteran having served during the Korean War. He was a member of the St. Martin Roman Catholic Church in New Derry and a past member of Holy Family Church in Latrobe, Sons of Italy in Latrobe, American Legion post 515 Latrobe, and VFW post 3414 Latrobe. James loved playing poker with his friends and horse racing.
Besides his parents James is preceded in death by one brother Nick Ciocco and one sister Carmella Lickenfelt.
James is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Evelyn C. “Evie” (Stahovec) Ciocco of New Derry; one son Louis Ciocco and wife Teri of Grand Junction, CO; four daughters Lori Anderson of Honolulu, HI, Linda Bradosky of Latrobe, Lee Storey and husband Jerry of New Derry, and Dr. Luciann Moyher and partner Cindy of Dallas, GA; three brothers Samuel Ciocco and wife Pat of Latrobe, Joseph Ciocco and wife Karen of Latrobe, and Tom Ciocco and wife Wanda of Derry; 13 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and also numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
The family will receive friends for James’s Life Celebration, on Wednesday May 31, 2017 from 4-8 PM at the Matthew X. Merlin Funeral Home Inc. 529 N. Chestnut St. Derry, PA 724-694-8331.
The Latrobe Derry Funeral Honor Guard will conduct Military Honors in the funeral home 7 PM Wednesday May 31, 2017.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00AM Thursday June 1, 2017 in the St. Martin Roman Catholic Church, New Derry with Rev. Meinrad Lawson O.S.B. as celebrant. EVERYONE PLEASE GO DIRECTLY TO CHURCH.
Interment will be in the St. Martin Cemetery.
