Obituary

Herman C. Barner Jr., 92 of Latrobe, died on Friday, February 17, 2023, at Excela Health Latrobe Hospital. He was born August 15, 1930 in Mansfield, OH, the son of the late Herman C. Sr. and Stella (Williams) Barner. Prior to retirement Herman worked for J & L Steel in Aliquippa as a crane operator. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. Besides his parents Herman is preceded in death by his wife Jane Barner, one brother Arthur Barner, and two sisters Marian Barner and Anna Belle Barner. Herman is survived by two sons Kevin E. Barner and wife Sandy of Thailand and Jack L. Barner of Latrobe; one daughter Kathy Ednie and husband David of Latrobe; five grandchildren Michelle Corbett (Wayne), Tracy Shannon (Ralph), Brittany Hodgson (David), Blake Barner (Becca), and Cheryl Astorino (Joe); 12 great grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and friends. All services for Herman are private for the family. The family has entrusted the funeral arrangements with the Matthew X. Merlin Funeral Home Inc. 529 N. Chestnut St. Derry, PA 724-694-8331.
