Edythe T. (Powers) Matusak, 99, of Bradenville, died Sunday, June 30, 2024, at Independence Health System Latrobe Hospital. She was born September 15, 1924, in Blairsville a daughter of the late Charles and Lillian (Winebrenner) Powers. Prior to retirement Edythe worked for Derry Area School District as a cafeteria worker. She was a charter member of the Derry Twp. Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and a 90 year member of the Bradenville United Methodist Church. Edythe enjoyed her family and taking trips to Myrtle Beach. Besides her parents Edythe is predeceased by her husband Charles E. “Chuck” Matusak in 2011; infant son, Craig E. Matusak; three brothers Donald, Willard, and Jake Powers and one sister Sara Jane Resslar. Edythe is survived by her two sons, Scott C. Matusak and wife Leanne of Derry and Blaine E. Matusak and wife Paula of Derry Twp.; one daughter, Maureen M. Cackowski and husband Vincent “Tobe” of Derry Twp.; nine grandchildren, Amanda McCarthy and husband Michael, Laura and Kimberly Cackowski, Erin Lucas, Jessica Petrosky and husband T.J., Zach, Tyler and wife Maria, Lindsey (Jay), and Carley Matusak; five great grandchildren, Parker and Cooper Petrosky, Sophia and Emma McCarthy, and Matteo Matusak; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family will receive friends for Edythe’s Life Celebration, 3-8PM Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at the Matthew X. Merlin Funeral Home Inc. 529 N. Chestnut St. Derry, PA. A funeral service will be held Wednesday 11:00AM, July 3, 2024 at the Bradenville United Methodist Church with Pastor Olivia Graham as officiant. Interment will be in the Coles Cemetery, Derry. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Edythe’s name to the Bradenville United Methodist Church, P.O. 307 Bradenville, PA 15620.
