Dolores J. (Petrarca) Hantz

Dolores J. (Petrarca) Hantz, 86, a lifelong resident of Seger, died on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at UPMC Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh. She was born September 20, 1930 in Latrobe, a daughter of the late John and Edith (Petrarca) Karrol. Prior to retirement Dolores worked for St. Vincent. She was a member of St. Martin Roman Catholic Church, New Derry and the Derry VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Dolores enjoyed her card club of 60 years, attending plays at St. Vincent’s Summer Theater, and watching the Pirates and Steelers. Besides her parents Dolores is preceded in death by her husband Edward J. Hantz Sr. in 1996, one son Edward J. Hantz Jr., one granddaughter Deidra Hantz, and one son-in-law Dr. Timothy Kline. Dolores is survived by her children Deborah Hantz of Derry, Arlene Kline of Derry, Marlene DePaul and husband Michael of Greensburg, Paula Hudson of Derry, David Hantz and wife Stephanie of Allentown, and Gary Hantz of Cleveland, OH; six grandchildren Alisha Hantz, Justin Hantz, Danielle Howard and husband Joshua, David Hantz Jr. and wife Brittany, Leah Hantz, and Logan Hantz; two great-grandchildren Anna Hantz and Addison Howard and also many friends. Family will receive friends for Dolores’s Life Celebration 6-8 PM Tuesday April 11, 2017 and 2-4 and 6-8PM Wednesday April 12, 2017 in the Matthew X. Merlin Funeral Home, Inc. 529 N. Chestnut St. Derry, PA 724-694-8331 A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 AM Thursday April 13, 2017 in St. Martin Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Stephen C. West as celebrant. Interment will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery, Latrobe The family would like to express how much of a privilege it was being part of Dolores’s life and to call her mother.
