David J. Vallana J. Vallana

David J. “Junie” Vallana, 78, of New Derry, died Saturday, March 5, 2016, at the Beacon Ridge Nursing Home, Indiana, PA. He was born March 15, 1937, in Latrobe, a son of the late Darvy and Ann (Broskey) Vallana. Prior to retirement David worked at Blairsville Westinghouse. He was a member of St. Martin Roman Catholic Church, New Derry, Derry Rod and Gun Club and various other clubs and organization throughout the area. David enjoyed sports and golf. David is survived by his four children Vicki D. Calhoun and husband Gary of Blairsville, David J. Vallana and wife Brenda of Phoenix, AZ Sandi A. Zsembik and husband Steve of Mercer, and Valerie D. Kehr and husband Nuffy of Fredrick, MD; two brothers Stanley Vallana and Rick Vallana and wife Kathy both of Latrobe; one sister Betty Yelenic of Blairsville; 9 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and also several nieces, nephews, and friends. The family will receive friends for David’s Life Celebration, on Wednesday March 9, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8PM at the Matthew X. Merlin Funeral Home Inc. 529 N. Chestnut St. Derry, PA 724-694-8331. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00AM Thursday March 10, 2016 in the St. Martin Roman Catholic Church, New Derry with Rev. Stephen C. West as celebrant. Interment will be in the St. Martin Cemetery, New Derry.
