David E. Cox

David E. Cox, 53, of Ladson, SC, formerly of Latrobe, passed away on June 21, 2025 as a result of an auto accident. He was born on February 23, 1972. The son of Patricia (Gray-Cox) Gettemy of Latrobe and the late Robert E. Cox who died in 1998. He attended Greater Latrobe High School (class of 1991) where he played football and baseball. David graduated from Coastal Caroline University in Myrtle Beach, SC. He was currently working as a supervisor at Sundaram-Clayton USA in Ridgeville, SC. David enjoyed all sports, football, baseball, fishing, and especially the Pittsburgh Steelers. Besides his father, David is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents John and Evelyn Gray and his paternal grandparents James and Bertha Cox. Beside his mother, David is survived by his sister Susan Simmen and husband Gregg; nephew and niece Ethan and Ansley Simmen; step-father William Gettemy; two daughters Elizabeth (Cox) and husband Chapmen Rogers and Bailey Cox; one grandson Tillman Alan Rogers; Fiancée Dawn Lee Gilmore; two step-children Jacob and Angelina Caroline; Lola Grace and Hank Aaron his Bassett Hounds; and his large loving extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. A Life Celebration Gathering will be held 1-4PM, Sunday July 20, 2025 in the Matthew X. Merlin Funeral Home, Inc. 529 N. Chestnut St. Derry, 724-694-8331. A Memorial Service will follow at 4 PM in the funeral home with the Pastor Jason Felici officiating.
