Charles L. Sloan

Charles L. Sloan, 95, of Derry Twp., passed away, Thursday, September 4, 2025. He was born October 15, 1929, in Derry Twp., PA, a son of the late John E. and Mary Olive (Short) Sloan. Prior to retirement Charles worked at Blairsville Machine. He was a US Army Veteran having served during the Korean War, Charles was a member of NRA. He enjoyed hunting, leatherworking, woodworking, and watching the Pirates Baseball. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife Rachael H. (Williams) Sloan in 2011; two brothers Francis A. and Harry E. Sloan; and two sisters Mary R. and Ida A. Sloan. Charles is survived by his sister June M. Sloan and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. The family will receive friends for Charles’s Life Celebration, on Monday, September 8, 2025 from 3-5 PM at the Matthew X. Merlin Funeral Home Inc. 529 N. Chestnut St. Derry, PA 724-694-8331. The Latrobe-Derry Veterans Honor Guard will conduct Military Honors in the funeral home at 4:45PM. A funeral service will follow 5PM, Monday, September 8, 2025in the funeral home with Pastor James Henigin officiating. Interment will be private in the Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville.
