It is with great sadness that the family of Bryan J. Toman announces his passing after he lost his battle with addiction a disease he struggled with for many years on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at the age of 38 at his home.
He was born August 3, 1979 in Latrobe, the son of Jeffrey V. Toman of Latrobe and Patricia A. Moritz of Arizona.
Bryan was a former employee of Intel in Arizona. He was also a member of the Derry Ukrainian Club. He loved playing chess, listening to music, going to concerts, playing video games with Jessica and watching the Pittsburgh Steelers. Bryan was in a near fatal accident in his early teens and returned to school to receive the Patrick’s McNaughton scholarship awarded for Courage in the Face of Adversity.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother Alma Mae Toman; his maternal grandparents Charles E. and Mary P. Moritz; his stepfather Joseph L. Madl and two cousins David J. Toman and Zachary C. Moritz.
Besides his parents Bryan is survived by his loving girlfriend Joy (Phillips) Miller of Derry and her daughter Jessica Miller; one sister Rebecca Hauser and husband Jeffery of Latrobe; his faithful companion Sergio and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Family and friends will be received to celebrate the life of Bryan from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday March 14, 2018 at the Matthew X. Merlin Funeral Home Inc. 529 N. Chestnut St. Derry, PA 724-694-8331.
A Funeral Service will immediately follow at 7 p.m. at the funeral home with the Pastor Don W. Graff officiating.
