Shirley M. (Dell) Connor

Shirley M. (Dell) Connor. 88, of New Derry, died peacefully on Sunday, April 12, 2026. She was born on May 31, 1937 in Latrobe, PA, a daughter of the late Kenneth and Irene (Stouffer) Dell. Shirley was a member of the graduating class of 1955 from Derry Boro High School. Prior to starting her family, she was a secretary at Latrobe Steel for several years. Shirley was a member of St Martin Church, New Derry where she was very involved for many years. She was also a member of St Martin Rosary Alter Society. She was a very devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved spending time with her family any chance she could. She also loved her get togethers with her lifelong friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Edward “Split” Connor, a son Shawn Connor, brothers Byron “Mike” Dell and his wife Susan ,and Donald Dell, sister in laws Rose “Bessie” Nolan and husband Francis, Elizabeth “Babe” Pennesi and husband Louis, brother in laws Louis “Vic” Connor and James “Chitch” Beatrice. She is survived by her sister Bonnie Dell, daughter Terri Vasinko and husband Jeff of Loyalhanna, son Patrick Connor and wife Debbie of New Derry, daughter Tonia McCallen and husband Paul of Blairsville, 6 grandchildren: Jen (Joe), Matt (Kierra) , Alisha, Dustin (Morgan), Mikayla (Gavin) and Colton (Kylie) , 5 great grandchildren: Cole, Casey, Aaliyah, Mariah, and Davin, sister- in -laws Dorothy Dell , Sandy Connor, and Lois Beatrice, brother in law James “Donald”Connor and wife Rosemary, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Family will receive friends 4-8 Wednesday, April 15, 2026 in the Matthew X. Merlin Funeral Home Inc. 529 N. Chestnut St. Derry, PA 724-694-8331. A funeral mass will be at 10 AM, Thursday, April 16, 2026 in the St. Martin Roman Catholic Church, New Derry. Interment will follow in the Coles Cemetery, Derry.
