Robert B. Hitchman

Robert B. Hitchman, 68, of Derry, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2019, at his home after a long hard battle with cancer. He was born April 19, 1950, in Latrobe, a son of the late Ralph D. and Rhea Jayne (Knupp) Hitchman. Prior to retirement Bob was a self-employed brick and block layer for over 40 years, having built many beautiful homes and businesses in Derry and surrounding areas. Along with his talent of building, he was an avid knife and gun collector, but his passion was hunting and spending hours in the woods. When he wasn’t hunting, he loved spending time with his grandchildren, family, and, friends. He will be deeply missed and was loved by all who knew him. Besides his parents, Bob is preceded in death by one brother Kenneth Hitchman. Bob is survived by loving his children Robert S. Hitchman of Blairsville and Lisa M. Swisher and husband Brad of Derry; two brothers Ricard Hitchman and wife Annette of Greensburg, and Larry Hitchman and wife Rose of Goddard, KS; five beautiful grandchildren Stephanie R. and Kylie J. Hitchman, Lauren R., Seth B., and Alayna M. Swisher; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. The family will receive friends for Bob’s Life Celebration, on Saturday, March 9, 2019 from 11AM-1PM at the Matthew X. Merlin Funeral Home Inc. 529 N.
