James Conrad Obituary

James C. Conrad, 86, of Derry Twp., died Friday, September 13, 2019 at Excela Health Latrobe Hospital. He was born May 4, 1933, in Latrobe, a son of the late Russell G. Sr. and Cecilia A. (Murray) Conrad. Prior to retirement James worked for Kennametal as a machinist. James was a Veteran of US Army having served during the Korean War. He was a life member of the VFW Post 3414 Latrobe, the Kingston Club, and Twin Maples, Derry. He was a member of the American Legion post 982 Latrobe. James enjoyed watching the Pirates and the Steelers and spending time with his family and his two loving cats Rex and Squirt. Besides his parents James is preceded in death by his granddaughter Ashley Conrad and two brothers Ronald and Russell G. Jr. Conrad. James is survived by his loving wife of 35 years Janet M. (Long) Conrad of Derry Twp.; four children James K. Conrad and wife Bonnie of Latrobe, Judy A. Conrad and David Jet of Fulton, MO, Beverly J. Waggle and husband Nick of Derry, and Russell L. Conrad and friend Stacey Wolf of Latrobe; one brother Richard Conrad of Blairsville; one sister Jean Short of Derry; 8 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Family will receive friends for James’s Life Celebration 4-8 PM Thursday September 19, 2019 in the Matthew X. Merlin Funeral Home, Inc. 529 N. Chestnut St. Derry 724-694-8331. The Latrobe Derry Honor Guard will conduct Military Honors in the funeral home Friday September 20, 2019 at 9:30AM. A Blessing Service will be held for James 10:00 AM Friday September 20, 2019 in the funeral home with the Rev. Salvatore L. Lamendola as officiant.
