Richard S. Laskie Sr.

Richard S. Laskie Sr., 86, of Hillside, died on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at Select Specialty Hospital, Latrobe. He was born April 19, 1937, in Latrobe, a son of the late Frank and Ann (Isgan) Laskie. Prior to retirement Richard worked at Westinghouse/ICI for 30 years. He was a graduate of Derry High School. Richard was a US Army Veteran. He was a member of the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church and was a very active parishioner. He enjoyed fly fishing, baseball and watching his grandchildren’s sporting events. Richard was an avid baseball player having tried out for the Cleveland Indians. Richard is preceded in death by his wife Shirley R. (Conway) Laskie; one daughter Dana M. Petrunak, one grandson Chandler Linville, one brother Frank Laskie; and two sisters Lillian Harrold and Louise Klosnick. Richard is survived by one daughter Christine Linville and husband Terry of Greensburg; one son Richard “Rick” Laskie Jr. of Derry one son-in-law Ronald Petrunak; four grandchildren Kalyne Heinmuller and husband Paul, Corbin Linville and fiancée Alli, and Connor and Camden Petrunak; two great-grandchildren Ashton and Brooks Heinmuller; and many nieces, nephews and friends. The family has entrusted the funeral arrangements with the Matthew X. Merlin Funeral Home, Inc. 529 N. Chestnut St. Derry, 724-694-8331. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Richard 11 AM Monday, March 18, 2024 in the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 125 S. Ligonier St. Derry, PA 15627, with Rev. Salvatore R. Lamendola as celebrant. Interment will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery, Derry. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to St. Joseph Church, 125 S.
